Mr. Mohawk

I don't understand.....he was fine before spring practice started.....(football...sigh)

Today....hmmm well, I made my 12 year old the "Boo Keeper" which had the result of having to clean puppy poop up off my sewing room floor. I have about 90 minutes before I have to pick up DS from practice and my excercise is done so lets get at it.

Boo to you too!

This small bundle of fur has kept me out of the sewing room! We named her Boo after the charater in Monsters Inc. She is the Easter puppy that my 9 yr old sandbagged me into. Has the makings of a really good dog someday but right now she "spats" with my pom (Sophie) under my sewing table on my feet. Today they unplugged the machines when they got tangled in the cords. Not a good thing..... Posted by Picasa

Catching up to the Clock

I've been less than faithful about my journaling lately. Blame DST for part of it....those dratted morning people are interfering with my whole schedule. I mean what kind of plan is that?? Let's go to bed wide awake and get up extra early?? (they didn't give me a vote obviously)

I have been working in my sewing room just not blogging it! One b*ra finished and while not my prettiest work it fits. That's always a good thing. I put together a SWAP board but I'm rethinking my colors....I have some great new Jalie patterns (and a TS from the expo) I haven't traced off yet. I really need to work on some casual coordinates. And summer is coming....good shorts pattern must be found.

Current brainstorm is for Easter. I have some pretty blue/taupe/ivory floral sheer that I want to make a skirt (TS Skirt Wardrobe view A or B) http://www.textilestudiopatterns.com/patterns/SkirtWardrobe1103.html
with an ivory lining and enough left to do a shell in the lining and a shirt of the sheer. (TS scoop neck tank and KS 2952) The shell redraft is in the works.....no way I can do it without a dart so I'm having to draft one.....

I did the zoo thing Saturda with the kids. More on that tomorrow!

I tried to get a close up of some of the details I added to the pattern. The flower stitch on my machine echos the fabric design nicely and I wanted a pocket to make my cell phone easy to get at inside the bag. Posted by Picasa

This is the StartSewSimple bag kit from the Expo. (All the proceeds go to benefit women's health innitiaves) They had a bunch of fabric choices. I love how it turned out. Posted by Picasa

It followed me home - It needs love.... Posted by Picasa

I DID NOT go to the expo to buy a machine. (My husband is wonderful! ) This is the Brother Innov'is 1500D. It is my dream machine and I'm loving it.

How many bags will this trunk hold? Posted by Picasa

Four of us from our local ASG chapter went to the Original Sewing Expo in Atlatna last weekend. We had a great time! Took enough classes to cause brain mush and shopped till we dropped.

Demo Done!

/\/\/\/\/\I'm jumping for joy. It has been a frustrating evening but my trial is done. These are from Safety Pockets #9800. My next version I will cut the waist about 1.5 inches lower and tighten the elastic. Otherwise I'm pleased. As a muslin these are wearable. In fact maybe even fixable just not this week! Posted by Picasa

This post is for my youngest DS who wants his mice on my blog. Meet Tipper & Panda Posted by Picasa

Too many pieces!

Today I have finished tracing my pattern and I have two piles - one for the pants and one for the shirt. I am going to demo the pants in the light blue you see on the right. Barely visible underneath is the heringbone linen that I want to do the final outfit in. I ironed all five yards of it today. The tracing took forever but I had a slow day at work so I was able to take it and do some of it there. This pattern doesn't look to hard but it is LOTS of pieces to cut. more tomorrow :-) Posted by Picasa

Is it too late for a New Year's Resolution?

Okay - I have a plan. I can (most days) block off 3:30 pm to 5 pm. Youngest arrives home at about 2:40 needs a few minutes for snack and homework and Middle one comes it at 4 but usually doesn't need my immediate help. Have to start dinner at 5 and pick up oldest at 5:30. So my mission is to spend this block every day in my sewing room instead of waiting for the weekend which always vanishes before I get any sewing done! I am in the midst of tracing off a Saf-T Pockets top and pants and if I'm really focused I might get done for the expo in Atlana. I have no weekends left....trip to see college son this weekend and then the expo. I will try to blog each evening to keep myself on track......Wish me luck Posted by Picasa

French Country Dress

this is the Lose Hinse French Country Dress I was working on back at Christmas. It is finally getting warm enough I might get to wear it! You can't see it well in this shot but the fabric is a sparkle velvet with tiny silver spangles all over it. Posted by Picasa

I've done a bit of spring clean up in the sewing room. Swapped the sewing table and the cutting table to open the space up some. I'm pretty pleased...now off to sew......
